Wednesday, August 25th beginning at 5PM: YAPPY HOUR to benefit CARE (Cullen's Archangel REscue) with a special appearance by MOZART and co-sponsored by Tito's Handmade Vodka Join us for a great night for a great cause as we celebrate Mozart's first public appearance since being rescued from certain death in the backyard of some jackwad by CARE founder, Tara Haltwinger, a few months ago. When finally rescued, he was in rough shape and has undergone many veterinary procedures to get him back on his loving paws. Throughout the evening, with the help of Tito's Handmade Vodka and Dog House Winery, we'll be donating $4 of every Tito's cocktail and $2 of every glass of Dog House wine you purchase DIRECTLY to CARE to help in their mission AND to help pay Mozart's vet bills. Be sure to come by and support a truly wonderful all-volunteer organization dedicated to the pets of the Midlands. AND be sure to bring your own furry children! The patio will be open for anyone who'd like to bring their pet and we'll have home-made dog treats and lots of water bowls!
Tuesday, August 24th at 6:30- Burgundy Master Class with Walter Segrera from Southern Wine and Spirits Delve deep into one of the most famous wine regions in the world with this Master Class hosted by one of Columbia’s leading authorities on wine. Even if your only experience with Burgundy is your love of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, you NEED to attend this tasting. In just a couple hours, you'll know more about this famed region than almost ALL of Columbia. In addition, we'll feed you while you learn! For the whites, we'll be serving a Summer Sweet Corn Bisque with a Seared Jumbo Sea Scallop. For the reds, we'll serve a Pork Loin with Wild Mushroom Ragout and Goat Cheese Crumbles over Creamy Mashed Potatoes. Cost is only $36 per person ($29 for Wine Club members). Tuesday, August 31st at 6:30: Schug Wine Dinner hosted by Axel Schug Join us in welcoming one of our favorite wine guys in the world, Axel Schug, for a very special wine dinner featuring his family winery. Schug Winery was founded in 1980 by Axel’s father, Walter, who had made his name in California as the winemaker for Joseph Phelps. It was Walter who is responsible for lavishing the wine world with Phelps Insignia and the amazing single-vineyard Cabernets from Backus and Eisele vineyards. Forging out on his own, he set up his winery at the base of the now-famous Carneros region and has been producing award-winning wines ever since. What most South Carolinians DON’T know is we are one of the few states in the nation to receive Schug wines. Since they didn’t produce a LOT of wine when they began, they decided to focus on just a few places and South Carolina lucked out! Since then, Axel has been to our fine state EVERY year and is known far and wide as one of the most gracious, down-to-Earth wine guys you'll ever meet.
